    Clemson professors, national nursing leaders create health care design certificate for clinical and leadership nurses

    Through a new certificate program, the Clemson University School of Nursing will educate practicing nurses about the design of health care facilities, empowering them to improve the safety and function of the spaces where they provide care. The new Leadership & Innovation in Health + Design Certificate program was created by O’Hara, Valentine, Academy of Nursing Excellence members and faculty in Clemson’s Graduate Program in Architecture + Health program for practicing nurses as well as new architects interested in the health care design field. The certificate was approved by the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education in late September and classes will begin in fall 2020.

    Clemson University School of Nursing assistant professor Susan O’Hara recently was recognized by Healthcare Design Magazine as a “HCD 10” winner. She was named the top educator because of her teaching and academic contributions to the health care design field over the past year.

    Clemson Nursing receives $2.7 million grant to increase nurse practitioner workforce

    The Clemson University School of Nursing has received a $2.7 million grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to help increase the nurse practitioner workforce in six Upstate counties. For the next four years, the grant will fund education for nurse practitioners who apply for this opportunity within the School of Nursing, as part of the grant-funded program Advanced Nursing Education Workforce (ANEW). The first 13 students in the project were admitted this month.
