James M. Burns has been appointed the interim associate dean for academic affairs in Clemson University's College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities.
A woman who leads the largest female-owned franchise business in the U.S. and who also is a minority owner of the Milwaukee Bucks will be the keynote speaker at Clemson University’s annual Ethics Day Wednesday, Oct. 16. Valerie Daniels-Carter is president and CEO of V&J Foods Holding Companies, which consists of Auntie Anne’s Soft Pretzels, Burger King, Coffee Beanery, Nino’s Southern Sides, MyYoMy Frozen Yogurt, Pizza Hut and Captain D’s Seafood Kitchen.
William C. McCoy has been appointed interim director of the Pan African Studies program in the Clemson University College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities. In addition to this new role, McCoy will continue his duties as director of the Rutland Institute for Ethics at Clemson.

Vernon Burton, the Judge Matthew J. Perry Jr. Distinguished Professor of History at Clemson University, will host a “Lincoln’s Unfinished Work” conference Nov. 28 through Dec. 1. Registration is required and is open to the public for the free, three-day conference that will bring more than 35 internationally renowned scholars to the Clemson University campus to explore the many dimensions of Lincoln and his legacy in current-day American society.
