Life as a post-graduate professional isn’t what it used to be 10 years ago — or even 10 months ago. You’ll likely have between 10 and 15 different jobs in your career, and one in four graduates will be employed on project-based contracts.

Working in this brave new world requires a brave new mindset. To be successful in today’s increasingly competitive job market, students must be flexible, take risks and learn from every new experience.

Whether you’re graduating in December or in 2020, you can work today to prepare yourself for your post-Clemson career. That first step starts Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 6 p.m. in Tillman Auditorium.

In partnership with the Spiro Institute, the Center for Career and Professional Development is hosting its first-ever “Unleash Your Inner Tiger” networking event. Clemson undergraduate and graduate students from all disciplines are invited to hear President Jim Clements and a top General Electric (GE) executive speak on the specific skills that employers seek from today’s college graduates.

After the keynote speech — which begins at 6 p.m. — students will have the opportunity to network with GE representatives. Bring your Tiger One card, a handful of business cards and your 30-second introductory elevator pitch.

Two students who attend the event will earn a job shadowing opportunity with President Clements’ office or with GE. No resumes, no interviews — simply show your student I.D. and enter for a chance to win.

Hunt smarter, not harder with insider tips on the post-grad job search. Trade your T-shirts for your best business casual and unleash your inner tiger this Wednesday night.

The program begins at 6 p.m. in Tillman Hall Auditorium. Find the full itinerary at:
