Each year, the Clemson Young Alumni Council names 10 alumni to its “Roaring10,” recognizing outstanding young alumni for their influence in business, leadership, community, education and philanthropic endeavors. The honor is given to individuals who exemplify Clemson University’s core values of honesty, integrity and respect and who have graduated from Clemson within the last 10 years.

Brown graduated from Clemson University in 2009 with a degree in forest resource management. One year later, he completed his master’s degree at Clemson in forest resources.

Brown serves as the Conservation Districts Program manager for the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. He is an active hunter-education instructor teaching future hunters about safety and ethics.

In 2013, Brown was asked to serve on the Clemson University Forestry Curriculum Reaccreditation Committee as a young alumni representative to the Society of American Foresters (SAF). Since 2015, Brown has served on the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences (CAFLS) Agriculture Alumni board of directors. While serving in this role, Brown organized the annual Clays for CAFLS Sporting Clays Tournament fundraiser. Since its inception in 2017, Clays for CAFLS has raised more than $60,000, which funds the C. Blain Player Endowment to provide financial support for CAFLS students to engage with CAFLS alumni for professional growth.

The 2019 Roaring10 class was honored by the Clemson Alumni Association and the Clemson Young Alumni Council at a ceremony on Oct. 11 at the Madren Conference Center on Clemson’s campus.

The Roaring10 award program was developed in 2012 by the Clemson Young Alumni Council. The primary mission of Clemson Young Alumni Council is to support the goals of the Clemson Alumni Association specifically on matters pertaining to young alumni. Clemson Young Alumni Council exists to connect young alumni with the university, assist young alumni in the transition from active student to alumnus and to facilitate fellowship, personal growth and professional development opportunities for young alumni and formally represent young alumni interests to the Clemson Alumni Council. The purpose of these efforts is to affect seminal influence on young alumni so they may continue to be connected and contributing alumni for a better Clemson throughout their lives.
