Clemson Young Alumni Council presents Nadia Nadim Aziz of Arlington with the 2019 Roaring10 young alumni award
CLEMSON, South Carolina – The Clemson Young Alumni Council has recognized Nadia Nadim Aziz of Arlington with the Roaring10 award.
Each year, the Clemson Young Alumni Council names 10 alumni to its “Roaring10,” recognizing outstanding young alumni for their influence in business, leadership, community, education and philanthropic endeavors. The honor is given to individuals who exemplify Clemson University’s core values of honesty, integrity and respect and who have graduated from Clemson within the last 10 years.
Aziz graduated from Clemson University in 2009 and received her Juris Doctorate in 2013 from the Charlotte School of Law. She is the interim co-director and policy counsel for “Stop the Hate” for the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law in Washington, D.C. In this role, Aziz is an advocate to strengthen the capacity of communities to combat hate, support individual victims of hate crimes and hold perpetrators of hate crimes accountable.
Aziz has spent time traveling across the country to speak on issues related to the First Amendment and the increase in bias-motivated crimes. Through the Arab American Institute’s mentorship program, she mentors Arab-American undergraduate and law students pursuing careers in public service.
Aziz continues to serve Clemson University in many ways, including delivering a talk on campus titled, “Hate Crimes on College Campuses,” to discuss the national trend of increased bias-motivated crimes on college campuses.
The 2019 Roaring10 class was honored by the Clemson Alumni Association and the Clemson Young Alumni Council at a ceremony on Oct. 11 at the Madren Conference Center on Clemson’s campus.
