Clemson, SC – Challenging times did not disrupt the generosity of the Clemson Family. Thanks to private gifts, pledges and IPTAY support, Clemson raised nearly $158.5 million during the last fiscal year, July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020.

“Our donors continue to help Clemson make a difference through gifts that enable us to provide our students with an incredible educational experience, support the innovative research and work of our faculty and staff, and serve the state of South Carolina,” said Clemson University President Jim Clements. “I appreciate each of our donors and thank them for their generosity.”

Of the total, more than $100 million was in cash, pledges and gifts-in-kind, and 40 planned gifts totaled nearly $18 million. IPTAY support set a record of over $68 million. Overall, 35,260 members of the Clemson Family contributed 89,820 gifts. These donations created student scholarships and supported faculty endeavors, including 75 new scholarships, five fellowships and 68 new endowments this year.

“This year our world faced unprecedented challenges, but our fundraising results are a testament to the strength and dedication of the Clemson Family even during the most difficult times,” said Brian O’Rourke, vice president for development and alumni relations. “The generosity of our donors is paving a path forward for our students, and we are overwhelmed with gratitude for these incredible results. These gifts have made an impact on Clemson today, tomorrow and forever.”

Principal gifts included 26 above $1 million each. Of those, twelve were from individuals, and four were from corporations and foundations.

Alumni participation was 16.39% or 18,270 individuals.

“We are very appreciative of our IPTAY donors who have given more than $68 million over the past year to support athletic scholarships, academic support services and facility initiatives,” said Davis Babb, chief executive officer of IPTAY. “This total is a combination of gifts to our annual fund, major gifts and planned giving efforts that enable us to provide crucial support to our student athletes.”
