DEN students at first meeting of the semester.

The DEN began the academic year in gangbuster fashion. On opening night, August 25th, over 80 students crowded into the Cooper Library’s Edgar Brown Digital Resource Laboratory to hear about The DEN and its mission of student multi-disciplinary entrepreneurship and education on campus.

Faculty, community entrepreneurs, and mentors also showed up in force to support the program and students, creating an environment that was called “a beautiful combination of nerves and excitement–almost like a compressed beehive.” This electric environment did not disappear after that first week! The following Tuesday, students crowded the stage of the Clemson Outdoor Amphitheater to pitch and share new technology and business concepts that will find a home in The DEN this semester. “We are excited to see such talent and passion for student innovation and entrepreneurship at Clemson,” said  John DesJardins, faculty co-founder of the DEN. “We look forward to a very successful semester.”

The DEN will continue to welcome more technology and business concepts throughout the semester, starting with the next Idea Launch Night on September 15th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Freeman Hall auditorium, room 0078.  Faculty, students, mentors, community entrepreneurs, and more are all welcome to join the thriving network of The DEN.
