During their first day of classes as a nursing major, Brooke Rogers and Allyson Walters listened as Nursing Success Skills instructor Kristin Goodenow spoke of the art of the being present with patients in their time of need. Little did they know that minutes later they’d be putting those words into action. After they left class, they were nearby as a student tripped on a sidewalk and dislocated her ankle. Brooke and Allyson calmed the student down, called 911 and waited with her until the ambulance arrived. “This experience only made us more excited to become nurses, and we can’t wait for what’s ahead,” Brooke said.
