Paige KegleyThe transition to college isn’t easy for many students. As a military kid, this Tiger went through more transitions than anyone. Today, she works to ensure that each and every student has a smooth transition by enhancing the Clemson Family programs. Her passion for making a positive difference in the lives of the people around her make her the perfect ambassador for the Clemson family.

Meet Paige Kegley.

Title: Associate Director of Student Transitions and Family Programs

Years at Clemson: Three

What I do at Clemson: I coordinate communication and events to engage families in the Clemson experience to create a smooth transition into college for not only students but also their families. I also now advise a new group of student leaders charged with offering a student perspective in our family communications and events. The Tiger Family Guides are a group of students that we think will only enhance what we are doing for the families of our students.

What I love about Clemson: I love the school pride that Clemson creates. Students are truly proud to be here! The campus is beautiful, surrounded by mountains and lakes – the fall is my favorite when the leaves are changing. Professionally, I love that I am surrounded by colleagues who truly want to make a positive difference for all students to be successful.

Accomplishment I’m most proud of: Receiving the Vincent. P Mesaric Award my last year at my former institution. This award was given to one staff member a year for someone who was essential to the success of students. This award was given only by nominations letters written by students, staff and faculty and ultimately was decided by an awards committee. It meant a lot as I don’t always see or hear if I am making a difference, and this was certainly an indicator that I was doing something right!

Where I see myself in five years: In five years, I hope to continue making a positive difference in the lives of the people around me by being an advocate and supporter for all students. There is no way I would be working in the field I am in if it hadn’t been for a staff member at my undergraduate institution believing in me.

Last thing I watched on TV: “Modern Family” and “Big Bang Theory.” Sometimes you need something that requires no thinking and a lot of laughing to unwind!

Guilty pleasure: Ice cream and cheese. Not together. : )

One thing people don’t know about you: I am a military brat. My father was in the Air Force and we moved around a lot growing up – 15 times to be exact. Because of this, I have had the rare opportunity to live abroad in England and Holland. We also lived on the small island of Guam for two years where we got hit by seven typhoons and an 8.2 earthquake! Traveling and learning about different places and cultures has been an incredibly important part of both mine and my family’s life. I believe that I am in the career and the department I am in today due to my continuous need for transition in my own life – some smooth and some not so smooth – in hopes to help others feel connected in the Clemson community.
