CLEMSON — The Clemson University Undergraduate Student Government Sustainability Committee will host the annual Earth Day celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday in the ballroom at the Hendrix Student Center.

“We have a lot of fantastic student groups, Creative Inquiry classes, vendors and other campus participants involved for what I trust will be a fun and educational day,” said senior Brandi Staley, student coordinator of the event. “I am keen for this to be an all-encompassing Earth Day celebration.”

Participants will be able to tie-dye T shirts, paint flowerpots and upcycle crafts from waste items. There will be food tastings, entertainment by DJ Shea and sponsor giveaways, games, quizzes, competitions and raffles.

There will be green-energy demonstrations by Clemson’s biofuels program, Gear Solar of Greenville and Richard Kay Superstore auto dealership. Local, sustainability-minded vendors will be selling items onsite and some will offer samples.

The event is free and open to the public.

The Undergraduate Student Government Sustainability Committee seeks to become the uniting group for sustainability efforts by coordinating amongst organizations and individuals pursuing sustainability goals at Clemson. They hope to educate and raise awareness about sustainability among the student body by hosting events, conducting projects and implementing various sustainability initiatives.
