Student arrested on felony malicious injury to property charge

Media Release

CLEMSON — Clemson University police arrested a student who they said broke a sink and caused minor flooding in a campus residence hall.

Paul F. O’Donnell Jr., a 19-year-old freshman from Wayne, N.J., was charged with causing malicious injury to real property more than $2,000, but less than $10,000, a felony. He also was charged with misdemeanor public disorderly conduct.

Police were called to Donaldson Hall at 3:18 a.m. Thursday because water leaking from a third-floor sink had damaged ceiling tiles on the first and second floors and caused the fire alarm to sound. They found that the restroom sink had been broken from the wall, causing the water leak.

O’Donnell was released on a $5,262.50 personal recognizance bond.
