Merritt Sanders Rechichar of Anderson elected to Clemson Alumni Association board
CLEMSON – The Clemson Alumni Association has selected Anderson native Merritt Sanders Rechichar as one of its five new members to serve on its board of directors. Her three-year term began July 1.
Rechichar was born and raised in Anderson. She earned a B.S. from Clemson in graphic communications in 1987. Previously employed as a project manager for Ricoh USA, Rechichar now owns her own print and design company, Merritt & Sons LLC. She has served as the capital campaign division leader for the Anderson Area YMCA.
At Clemson University, Rechichar was named Miss Clemson University ’86. She was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation, the Society for the Advancement of Management, the Finance Club and the Sailing Club. She has since given back to Clemson as a young alumni representative in Charlotte, as a member of the Clemson University Alumni Council (2009-2012), as president of the Anderson Area Clemson Club (2009 – 2013). Rechichar was project manager/fundraiser for the administration of a significant partnership between Clemson University and Fluor Daniel, which helped construct the first engineering facility added to the university in more than 40 years. In that role, her efforts helped raise $2.8 million in less than six months through employee payroll deduction and company matching funds.
The alumni board has 24 members and is the governing body for the Clemson Alumni Association. Primary responsibilities of the board include general oversight of the programs and initiatives of the association, financial audit and review, the establishment of governing policies and strategic planning.
