CLEMSON — Elizabeth Garrison of Greenville, a 1995 graduate of Clemson University and founder of Ever-Green Recycling, has been named Outstanding Alumni of the Year by the communication studies department.
Garrison, a native of Anderson, received the award for significant entrepreneurship and “eco-preneurship” since she graduated from Clemson.
In her previous role as economic developer for Greenville County, Garrison noticed that most businesses want to recycle but don’t have an in-house program that works well. She created Ever-Green Recycling to serve growing businesses in Greenville and to help them recycle more easily and effectively.
Garrison also has been instrumental in placing recycling containers along Main Street in Greenville. The containers are sponsored by local businesses, decorated with the work of local artists, filled with recycling by pedestrians and serviced by Ever-Green Recycling.
“We are very proud of Elizabeth Garrison's accomplishments as a Clemson communication studies alum,” said communication studies department head Kate Hawkins. “Elizabeth's success as an eco-preneur helps to make her a truly outstanding Clemson alumna.”
