CLEMSON — A program to recognize the unsung heroes who defended the country’s freedom in war will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Golden View Baptist Church, 105 Church St., Clemson.

“A Salute to our Everyday Heroes” is sponsored by the Clemson Area African American Museum in partnership with the Charles H. Houston Center at Clemson University, according to Starlett Russell Craig, director of the Houston Center’s Office of Academic Excellence.

The keynote speaker will be Maj. Gen. Cornell Wilson Jr., a retired deputy commander of U.S. Marine Corps. The master of ceremonies will be Carl Sharperson Jr., the owner of Sharperson Executive Leadership Company who travels nationally as a motivational speaker for the Navy’s Speaking Bureau.

The Daniel High School Junior ROTC will present the colors and sing “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.”

At the conclusion of the ceremony there will be a tribute from Sen. Lindsay Graham’s office and from mayors in the tri-county area.
