Clemson’s Sullivan Center to offer free physicals for uninsured Greenville women
CLEMSON — Clemson University’s Joseph F. Sullivan Center is offering free physicals to uninsured women in Greenville throughout the winter, spring and early summer.
The screenings will be held at Greenville Outpatient Radiology, 1210 W. Faris Road, on Feb. 25, March 25, May 27 and June 17; and at Hillcrest Memorial Hospital, 729 SE Main St, in Simpsonville, on March 4, April 1, May 6 and June 3.
During the screenings, women will receive clinical breast exams, pelvic exams, pap smears (if needed), mammogram assessments, blood pressure checks, cholesterol and diabetes tests, and heart disease and stroke risk assessments.
The physicals are part of the Sullivan Center’s work with the American Cancer Society; the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control’s Best Chance Network; and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s WISEWOMAN (Well-Integrated Screening and Evaluation for Women Across the Nation) program.
To be eligible for the screening, patients must be 40-64 years old, lack health insurance and meet income eligibility guidelines. For more information about guidelines and to make an appointment, contact the Sullivan Center at 864-656-3076.
The Sullivan Center, part of Clemson’s College of Health, Education and Human Development, is a nurse-managed health center that provides services to Clemson employees and underserved communities. The center supports classroom education providing opportunities for Clemson nursing, public health and other students and faculty to work together with community agencies to promote access to care.
