CLEMSON – Thousands of people are expected to pack College Avenue in downtown Clemson at the annual Welcome Back Festival from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17.
The festival is sponsored by the Clemson Student Alumni Council and Clemson Alumni Association with support from the city of Clemson and area businesses. Numerous businesses and campus organizations will be on hand to offer samples and prizes. Attendees can buy tickets to trade for items from vendors at tables along College Avenue. Each ticket costs 50 cents, but admission to the festival is free and open to the public. Proceeds from ticket sales go to the Student Alumni Council scholarship fund.
Clemson University President James F. Barker and Clemson Mayor Larry Abernathy will open the festival. The evening will have guest appearances from the Tiger and Tiger Cub mascots, sports teams, TigerRoar, the cheerleaders and Rally Cats.
In the event of heavy rain, the Welcome Back Festival will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 19.
