Clemson announces Public Health Pest Control training and certification
CONWAY – The Horry County Cooperative Extension Service staff is offering training and certification for anyone needing a Public Health Pest Control (Category 8) license.
Training will be from 9:30 a.m. to noon on July 20 in the Horry County Cooperative Extension Service office, 1949 Industrial Park Road, Conway, SC 29526. The cost of the training is $80. It covers mosquito biology and control, tick biology and control, application principles, insect vectored diseases (Zika), fly biology and control, rodent biology and control and environmental safety regulations. Participants are asked to purchase and study the Category 8 Public Health Pest Control manual prior to the day of training. This manual can be purchased online from Clemson University Regulatory Services by going to http://bit.ly/2srkmVg.
The exam will be given from 9 a.m. to noon on July 21 in the same location. It costs an additional $50. Everyone taking the exam must have taken and passed the Basic Commercial Pesticide License (CORE) Exam prior to taking the Category 8 Exam.
All state and federal employees, as well as individuals who use or supervise the use of pesticides to control pests in public health programs, are required to have this training and certification.
