Bernie Quiroga, assistant professor of operations management in the College of Business, has received the 2012-2016 Associate Editor Service Award from the Journal of Operations Management.

Quiroga, operations management, service award

Bernie Quiroga

The Journal of Operations Management is the only leading operations management academic journal devoted exclusively to empirical research. The publication is part of the Financial Times’ list of Top 50 academic business journals, and one of only four journals in operations management to be part of that list.

Quiroga, who began his academic career at Clemson University in August of 2015, was cited for his outstanding service to the publication for the constructiveness of his assessments, volume of work and the timeliness in which he turned around the work during the past five years.

Quiroga is one of the publication’s two methodology-specific associate editors, and the publication’s go-to expert editor in econometrics and statistical modeling.

In bestowing the award, Mikko Ketokivi, editor in chief of the journal, said it was unusual for a junior faculty member to produce the quality and volume of reviews that Quiroga does.

“Every time I read Bernie’s reviews, I learn something new,” Ketokivi said. “And where there is a tough model to evaluate, I know I can send it to Bernie.”

Quiroga received two of his masters’ degrees and his Ph.D. from Penn State University.
