Helen Diamond Steele is new director of the Office of Student Enrichment in the College of Business. She is returning to Clemson, where she earned a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership in 2012, after serving in a leadership position at the University of West Georgia in Carrollton.

Steele succeeds Renee Hebert, who left the OSE director post for a job with Hewlett-Packard last year. Leah Hughes has served as interim director since October 2015.

Since 2010, Steele led West Georgia’s First-Year Experience, which encompasses a variety of programs directed at new students, including orientation, summer transition, pre-college and parent programs.

“The college is extremely pleased that Dr. Steele has joined our staff. She is vital, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable,” said Kinly Sturkie, associate dean for Academic Affairs. “She stood out in a very strong field of candidates for this position.  We are confident she will continue to expand the outstanding work of that office.  We are also very appreciative of the thoughtful leadership Leah Hughes provided through this transition.”

The Office of Student Enrichment prepares students for life after graduation by assisting them with career preparation, employment opportunities, mentoring, international study and internships.
