Haley Jones receives Connelly/Perkins Graduate Fellowship
Haley Jones of Clemson University is receiving the Connelly/Perkins Graduate Fellowship from the AATCC Foundation.
Jones, who is from Summerville, received her Bachelor of Science in materials science and engineering in May and is now a graduate student. She is studying under Stephen Foulger, the Gregg-Graniteville Endowed Chair and Professor.
The foundation providing the fellowship is the charitable arm of AATCC, a non-profit based in North Carolina’s Research Triangle, serving textile professionals since 1921.
The fellowship goes to students “pursuing a Ph.D. with a focus on fibrous and polymeric materials in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Clemson University,” according to the foundation’s website.
Jones’ work with Foulger is funded by a $6-million grant he received in 2016 through the National Science Foundation’s Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research, or EPSCoR.
The work focuses on optogenetics.
