Aaron Draplin is famous for his vintage industrial style and vector design. Aaron Draplin, creator of Field Notes, is coming to Clemson for a day-long event on Feb. 22 that is sure to inspire Clemson faculty, staff and students. The Portland-based graphic designer has worked with clients that include Nike, Burton snowboard, Esquire, Red Wing, Ford Motor Company, WIRED, Field & Stream, NYTimes and the Obama administration.

Draplin is a dynamic, engaging speaker who has presented and been the keynote at the likes of TEDxPortland, Adobe MAX, AIGA, Adobe Creative Jam and AAF.

While on campus, Draplin will be leading and speaking at a series of events, and Clemson faculty, staff and students are invited to attend and participate. Details on each event are below.

“Pretty Much Everything,” a keynote with Aaron Draplin

Draplin will be talking industry lessons, how to be successful in your own creative pursuits and maybe a little bit about great beards. You don’t have to be a graphic designer to come away inspired. Attendance is free and open to all Clemson faculty, staff and students; but register if you’re planning to attend.

Student Design Sprint Workshop

Students who are up for a challenge and ready to hone his/her collaborative and design skills should sign up for this hour-and-a-half workshop. Fewer than 30 students will be able to be a part of this smaller, interactive opportunity. Draplin will divide everyone into groups of four before he presents a design challenge. Groups will then will have one hour to complete the challenge. Afterward, each team will pitch its ideas and receive feedback from Draplin.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. So sign up, plan to be there, and let’s get those creative juices flowing.

Where Creativity Meets Work — Faculty and Staff Interactive Workshop

Clemson faculty and staff will get a unique opportunity to meet with Draplin during this interactive workshop. He’ll be discussing the art of finding creative inspiration and incorporating innovation into our daily lives and work. And he’ll walk through his creative process and share stories from years of experience in creative work.

Creativity isn’t just for artists or graphic designers. So make time to take in this unique opportunity. You’ll walk away with ideas that you can incorporate into your classroom or workspace.

Student Poster Design Contest

A great poster design can inspire, spread an important message, catch someone’s eye or send 12 lucky students to lunch with famed designer, Aaron Draplin. Whether you are passionate about music, typography, movies or missions, submit a poster for a chance to win. Submissions are due by noon on Feb. 12, must be an original work of art and must include the CoCreate logo somewhere on the front of the 12 in. x 18 in. poster.
