Austin Dollar of Clemson University receives Chateaubriand Fellowship
Austin Dollar of Clemson University is receiving the Chateaubriand Fellowship and will be heading to France to conduct research for eight months.
Dollar is a Ph.D. student in mechanical engineering studying under Ardalan Vahidi.
The fellowship is a grant offered by the Embassy of France in the United States and goes to outstanding Ph.D. students from American universities who wish to conduct research in France for periods ranging from four to nine months.
Fellows are selected through a merit-based competition.
Dollar’s stay will be supported by French President Emmanuel Macron’s “Make Our Planet Great Again” initiative, according to a letter from the embassy. Dollar will receive a monthly allowance and health insurance coverage abroad.
